Store closings gift cards
Most of these stores I never heard of.
This is the email I got, so don't know
FYI…. before you do any holiday shopping, or get stuck with any unused or not honorable gift cards, take a look at the list below. Keep these stores in mind, you wouldn't want to purchase a gift card for someone that won't be able to use it!!
Pass it on….
It seems there are lots of stores that are closing due to the "recession" and the fact that people are not shopping. If you have any "gift cards" from these stores, make sure you use them, or you will lose them !
Watch those store money cards and gift cards.. and credit slips! Stores that informed the Security Exchange of closing plans between October 2008 and January 2009. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Re: Store closings gift cards
I got a gift card one christmas . . . I did NOT like it . . . as I really dislike to shop it was like an assignment and I had to go and buy something because the person who gave it to me kept asking what I got with it.
I hope no one does this to me again.
Three years ago B gave me money to buy a new coat . . .I'm still wearing the same coat he wanted me to replace.

I can see how it would feel like that for some people. I like getting cards for restaurants because then hubby HAS to take me out! He can come up with more excuses not to go out than any person I know of!

Have about $1.20 left on a Winners gift card from two years ago. Mebbe I can get a pair of socks before THEY go under. I know, I know, big issue this year especially. Doing "homemades" again for Xmas'08 and recipients better well like them! LAFF No way they can exchange them.

THere are huge signs in front of our mall
Opening soon, winners and Futhershop
and tel # to call for job interviews
so think these 2 must be ok in Canada
But things change quickly and these signs have been there since months

Re: Store closings gift cards
Lyn, I guess I am like your hubby. I do not usually enjoy restaurant meals as I often feel I am paying too much for something I could have made better @ home.

That would be fine if he did the cooking.....
We don't go out very often though. Maybe a couple of times a year.

Re: Store closings gift cards
Restaurant gift cards/coupons are also bad for having an expiry date.
Shy away from those....money doesn't expire & neither should a gift card/coupon.

Gift cards are no longer allowed to expire, at least her in AB that is the case and they aren't allowed to charge a "service fee" either. That change came into effect on November 1st. Here's the story.
