Re: Christmas Decorations
As the discussion is about abbreviations, i.e. X for Christ, I wanted to mention that I absolutely 'hate' the abbreviation for children, i.e. 'kids'. It has absolutely nothing to do with religion, (I happen to practice my religion in the garden, where I ruminate, reflect, and think happy thoughts), but where did this 'baby lamb' come from to describe children?

Re: Christmas Decorations
A quick google re the word kid
kid
Extended meaning of "child" first recorded as slang 1599, established in informal usage by 1840s.
Kiddo first recorded 1896. It applied to skillful young thieves and pugilists since at least 1812. Kid stuff "something easy" is from 1923.

Re: Christmas Decorations
Now you are agin little tiny baby goats? What will I ever tell the nanny goats???
Speaking of Christmas ornaments that have nothing to do with Christmas but everything that is to do with reminders of LOVE, yesterday at Paperworks I bought 13 yr old grandson a beautiful blown glass Persian puddytat tree ornament...he has loved cats since he was a wee.
Does anybody else love the IDEA of ribbon candy? I think it is just the prettiest...impossible to eat, sticky if left out...for years we accused the cat of licking it!!! But, it is so darn pretty...I'm glad they invented it!

Re: Christmas Decorations
Pansy, mixed hard candies in one of dad's big wool socks, and all the fuzzies on the candies...how my kids grumbled as they ate them, fuzz and all. (Oh, should have said, kids hung up these big socks instead of Christmas stockings, way back when.)
