CBC news at 6

the local cbc news at 6 had a report on IE7 saying if you were using it that you should stop and install firefox or another more secure browser. apparently there is a virus that people are using to steal your passwords and the like. right now it is only attacking games but would be very easy to switch it to take all banking info, passwords,etc. they said that you don't even know you have it it just picks up your info when you click onto a site.
figured if they were talking about it on the news I'd give you all a heads up. personally I've been running firefox since skwij introduced me to it.

Thanks for the heads-up! We use Firefox now, have been for over a year, and it seems pretty safe so far.

BF, anybody else...the "Hallmark one" is disproved, see Snopes...it has been around for years.

Windows has been updating security today.

and I got another warning tonite from someone else and 3 companies were listed and he said he checked with snopes

I can' find anything on http://www.snopes.com about Hallmark, coca cola, or Mc Donald being a virus

So it is a hoax the same as I just read on snopes all the missing children ones we get are hoaxes too

Maainly these things are sent out so the spammers can get our addys so they can spam us even more.

Just as these types send to 10 people , sort of emails, all spam and scams

Didn't check Snopes on any of this. I heard about the windows problem last night and that they were issuing a fix. It's the nature of the business whether it be Firefox or IE, both can be attacked by viruses. I have both browsers loaded.
I had heard about the Hallmark virus and I believe Skwij said something about it just a short while ago. Make sure to link to the site to open any cards....If it looks suspicious don't open it!
