I called my doc. he say he thinks It is jut one more thing RSD is doing, the shinny glassy tongue thing.

RSD does 94 different things to the body I have 54 of them, so he says this is # 55 and not to worry and keep on taking Champix if it is working

Told him what I read on the web about suicides etc and I was nervous about it and more so living alone.

he said it did cause dry mouth which I take other meds that do to. So he said the tongue thing is a dry mouth symtom

He asked if I was still taking wellbutrin and I said no, it made me feel worse.

Then he told me to take it but I refused because I am more anxious since I started taking Chapmix but he said it could be the season which could be true. I am feeling quite anxious.

Then he wanted to prescribe another anit depressent. NO thanks I don't want it

But if I start feeling depressed I will stop taking Champix

I wonder why I do not beleive my doctor

Thanks Liz But I am willing to bet that Champix is doing it to me

My tongue swelled at the back of my throat tonite making it hard to swollow. My tongue is so thick I can hardly close my mouth. Plus something I have never had in my life is dry cracking lips but tonite. I do I think I better sit up to sleep tonite.

So I am stopping those pills for a couple of days to see if the swelling goes down

I am into a bad RSD attack and suffering but the swelling of my tongue never never had that before.

I dont beleive my doc with his remarks because how the heck would he know it is RSD when he first came here in Aug, he told me he knew nothing about it as all doc don't. The purpose he sent me to a specialist in Oct and even then he didn't know much about it. Most doctors don't have a clue with this as it is so rare they never see it

As you know suppose to stay on them for 12 weeks or more but . BTW I asked and told me I heard it was danegrous to go off them. He said, he nver heard that but I told him to go to the Can Heath link I saw a warning there

I strongly suspect you were having an allergic reaction to the "stop smoking "drugs. I, for one , think most of those drugs have more of a psychological effect than a physical one helping people stop smoking .Most that I know of who quit smoking permanently did it without drugs, including myself. I was a 2 pack plus a day smoker until I had quad bypasses. I quit smoking not by going cold turkey , but by not having cigarettes readily available and only having one when the pressure to smoke was the strongest, usually when one of my smoking friends was there. I managed to go from the 2 packs plus to none in a week. The first week of quitting is the worst. Get past that , and it is a lot easier.
The choker is, the habit is very hard to break, and never completely goes away after 40 plus years of smoking . I learned all it takes is that first one to be right back on them and it took 20 years and the bypasses to make me quit for good .
Even after being off them for 10 years now, I still find there are the occasional triggers that make me reach for the pocket I used to carry them in. To me , smoking is a very hard habit to break rather than a physical addiction to nicotine.. Nicotine patches and any other drug never seems to break the desire to smoke. It is killing the habit that is the major battle, not overcoming a drug ( nicotine ) dependency.

It is so great when you can quit smoking.I think every person has to find what works for them.My hubby quit last may,he used Champix and did wonderful with it.He had tried the patch and also Ziban which did not work.He says now he has no craving. The habit thing it what he has too, funny how that hangs on.

Good luck to those who are trying to give up the beast, keep on trying and don't give up . . . it takes a few times trying to give it up.

Ziban. Oh whew that is one I can't take and a neighbour took bad seizers. She almost died ith that one

I didn;t take champix last nite or this am. Tongue is still swollen and had a hard time sleeping last nite, breathing was bad. I felt like I was chocking.

So I got up at 3 am and made 2 doz blueberry bran muffins

Can't go to the doc, he closes at noon plus we are into a blizzard and too far to get to the hospital via TC and TC is the only way I can get there. So I will wait and see what I am like after supper

a few times to quit?? ha ha this is about my 10th time but I am not craving
