I've been cooking more lately and using the oven a lot to cook

But would that warrant 2 hours a day more on the lite bill? Seems a huge . increase of $26.00 a month more than last year

Does ovens burn that much power?

neighbours with 2 teenagers, their bill is $63 a month.

I always thought my bill was high for one peron compared to other homes with 2 or more people

How much more are you using the oven? In order for it to cost you $26 more per month you'd have to be running it about an extra 150 hours per month or about 5 hours per day. That seems highly unikely.

Can you do any of your cooking in a smaller appliance such as a toaster oven?

I cook maybe 2 hours a day maybe 3-4 time a week in the ooven so it sure doe not make sense to me for that kind of increase and I did not gain any more habits.

I do fall asleep sometimes with the tv on and wake up 3-4 am but shut it off. But I dont go to bed most times til midnite or later. But this habit I have been doin it for years

This big increase just happened and our power is going up another 9 % in Jan

You know Butterfly I cook alot with our oven and I would have to say that ,that does nto make sense to me.Maybe I am wrong but I would definately call your electric company and find out what is happening.Maybe they read the meter wrong?Hope you get it straightened out asap.

Just called them. They say they made a mistake on the readings .

Estiments monthly they did from the year before was under. so now I need to make it up this year. In other words they didn't charge me enough for 2007 and they say I burned more in 2008.

I am on a monthly amount taken costs from the year before

I never see the metor reader guy, he must be having fun somewhere cause he doen't come to my place to read it

I am not satified with this answer

Oh, I see. That makes sense then. Our meter gets read every 2nd month and we pay a catch-up if it's been underestimated the previous month. It sounds as though your meter may not have been read for a few months. It will say on your bill if it is an estimate or a meter reading.

I pay 232.00 per mo. Electricity, heat the works. If in sept when i am reevaluated i spent more then they just add it on divided by 12 mo.

Last year i had 30.00 more for the yr. So it was divided by 12. jazz
