When We go see them tonite this will be a question. I am receiving here on Christmas. My sis who is a nurse says no way he should come. His immune system is not fully functional. I agree and we can go see them later in the day. He will only barely be 4 days old.And it is win ter.

I think she should ask the doc. I dont want her to think she must come. But jonathan is another story how can i convince him not to come or to come alone.

I'm old fashioned. Pre-arranged, very short visits to their home, ONLY with the mom's full agreement. Nobody with colds/flu, NO CHILDREN at all (little germ carriers!) Admire the baby, praise the mom, and LEAVE.

Look forward to NEXT Christmas when everyone healthy can get together and enjoy the magic in Isaac's eyes, as he sees decorations everywhere.

(I also will not go and see any of my brand new grandbabies, until I know the mom has her feet under her...I DID do phone calls of loving supportiveness as needed. For the first grandchild, I was a birth coach, and that baby and his mom lived with us for the first six weeks of his life.)

Babies can go out as soon as Mom is ready to take them. However I agree with Liz, no sick ones around until Issac is a bit older. Babies need to be exposed to germs to build their immune systems but he doesn't need to be exposed at his tender age and Mom has to be able to cope too.
