Did anyone see the PM's speech today on CBC?

Gad he said he thinks we are heading into a depression

How do you all feel about that? I am terrified to be honest

That means no job and it would mean many of us loose everything

I read it could mean no OAP and no unemployement as they would run out of money

The US is already fearing this now

I can't get the full article and I don;t get a paper or listen to much on the radio any more. I suspect we are in for a recession for sure but I don't think it would ever be a full blown depression. There are too many safeguards in place for that.

I think that Lyn's right bf . . . and I watch the news constantly.

There will be jobs in jeapordy, and it's not known where the world economy will go in the next years, but I think that things like CPP and OAS will continue.

Strange thing tho . . I started this reply . . and then stopped to watch a portion of CBC's Sunday Morning. Evan Solomon was interviewing an author and Harvard prof named Niall Ferguson. He gave the best synopsis of this present upheaval that I've ever heard.

It may not set yr mind completely at ease . . he says that the future is unknown, and could move in positive or negative directions. And that the key to it all is the question of how much American debt that China will assume.

But thanx to the wonders of the internet u too can hear him . . . with an interviewer who doesn't butt in quite as much as others. Grrrrr! lol

Maybe he figures if he lays out the worst case then whatever happens won't seem so bad.
