For Shud Lovers!

Shud is a term used by one of our older members...older as in has been around since the beginning members, OurDerek. It's a Shed....Our Kat picked it up and has posted some awesome shuds!

Don't know if its one of OurDereks Britishisms, but .....

Thanks for explaining what a 'shud' is K! lol I think it must have started off with a typo and it somehow stuck. Kat picked it up and ran with it!
CdnChelsea a 'shud' is just a 'shed' in real life, but you know how things can evolve on this forum, or at least they used to!
The 'shuds' don't have thatched roofs K. They're clay, as are most roofs in England. It's extremely rare to see the sort of shingles we have here in Canada. Some are slate. Most of the older Norman and Saxon churches have slate roofs.
Here is a cottage with a thatched roof in the beautiful village of Gaydon, Warwickshire, where there is the most beautiful pub, 'The Malt Shovel', where we had a fabulous lunch in gorgeous surroundings. The hanging baskets were still spectacular:

BTW if MareE was around or even OurDerek himself, he would verify that he did indeed coin the term Shud. He was a bit grumpy about it if I remember. Blasted shuds springs to mind. Anyway, I miss MareE, AND Ourderek, they were a hoot.

A friend of ours had a friend from England visit him here for a few weeks. They invited us over for dinner. I loved listening to her accent and her different ways of saying things. "knock me up early in the morning " was one of my favourite ones.

12th century meets the 21st century, and they've done a really nice job of keeping so many of the original architectural features and blending them to the standards required for the 21st century. It was a magical place, and one really has to experience it.

Nowadays of course there has to be a paved parking lot, lots of outdoor lighting, and modern conveniences, but this really was a little gem.
