This forum is trying my patience today. Everything is moving like frozen molasses. I'll try to respond to this then I'm off as I have better things to do than to sit twiddling my thumbs hoping the forum will be accessible.
I too love to pick potatoes and leeks to make viccychoisse. I don't use onions as well in viccychoisse, but do use them in almost every other soup - carrot soup, squash soup, which, again, tastes so great when you know they were growing in the garden just a few minutes ago!
I also love gazpacho, made with several varieties of tommytoes.
With 20 minutes to go before the meal is ready what is better than to go and pull up some carrots, give them a quick trim, scrub with a soft nail brush, and cook and eat!

If I managed to grow any substantial amount of carrots, I'd let you know! LOL

going to make some Irish soda bread to go with.....nice hearty meal on a cold novemeber day!
Just wondering what my kids are eating.....
