Ornamental Cabbages by Fall?

Postby Lizzie » Jul 08, 2008 12:24 pm

I found these very colourful cabbages on SALE at the Superstore (4 little plants for $.99) so I bought blue-ish purple ones and turquoise ones. Then I found this nice red-purple plant called Alternanthera on SALE for $1.29 at the Deep. I've never tried this before but I'm hoping for two really nice big fall planters for the grand total for $4.60!

:?: Do you think there is enough time for these cabbages to grow to a decent size by Fall?
Work is for people who don't know how to garden.

Hi Lizzie, were they advertised as ornamentals? What a good price - hope they work out for you.

Er... no, they weren't advertised as ornamentals but they are growing nicely (before and after photos at top).... and the bugs are enjoying them too. The traffic moves pretty fast by my house so maybe nobody will notice the holes when I put them in my urns in fall
