Thrill, Fill and Spill rule
This is new to me, as is container planting, maybe you know it already, but I was watching Cityline yesterday, and the guest gardener, Frank Ferragine, said the rule about container planting is Thrill, Fill and Spill.
The thrill is the center piece, something tall and striking, like cannas, or that spiky plant. The fill is the stuff around it, like petunias, and the spill is something that drapes downwards like a potato vine.
I found this a good rule. Now I know what my container is missing!
Thought I would share.
