Perennial vines
I need a very hardy vine to put in a very large container with a sturdy trellis behind it .It will be left in this container all winter ,but will get protection from the house.
I know Trumpet vine and Silver Lace would work, but am looking for possible others.Anyone grow vines in permanent containers? Thanks

I wonder if honeysuckle would work. They're tough!

Thanks BBQ.I have one in another large planter box and it does just fine.I was thinking something a bit more wild, that I could keep in check in that planter.
Thanks for the suggestion.

There's a clematis called Tangutica, (sp), which I made the mistake of planting a few years ago. It grows like crazy, and sends up suckers, and will grow at least 20 ft a year if you let it. It has small hanging yellow bell-like flowers and the seed heads are quite pretty. I used to cut mine down to the ground every year and it came back stronger than ever. It's very hardy too. That's about all I can think of, other than Hops and Dutchman's Pipe, but I don't know whether they would over-winter in a pot. You've probably already googled for suggestions!
