Growing an avocado tree on my desk
Re: Growing an avocado tree on my desk
I just got back from much vacationing and time off. I haven't voted yet, oh Angus, son of Robin. Nice to meet you.
Good job of growing this!
so ....do names like : "Angus's Pride" fit? or must it have its very own personal name.
Has anyone yet suggested 'Ava'? (or Eva). Do we know if it's a male or female plant?

Mangoes do sprout from the pit. Be patient though, it is even more slow-growing than your avocado!
If I remember correctly, the leaves are shiny, narrow and dark green.

Ralph's a veritable Jack's Beanstalk, eh Laura?
Must say, Angus et al, this has been a "NAME MY DESKTOP TREE" contest beyond compare and worthy of special place in CG forum history books!
Actually, only such a contest ever partook, and it was a blast! Anyone else in your office need their plant nicked? lol

Re: Growing an avocado tree on my desk
Thanks to everyone who voted - Ralph has won by a narrow margin. We have the nameplate attached to the pot, and I think Ralph is happy to finally have a name! A lot of people in the office have dropped by to congratulate Ralph - there's a chance he might be July's employee of the month!
I've snapped a few pics of him with his fancy new name plate:

Congrats to Ralphie boy!
I still think I am honourary Godmother since I suggested the naming *hmph*
So where do I send the water and the pamphlet I got "Proper Avocado Behaviour- It's not easy being green" that I got from the Church of Scenictology?
