Building a retaining wall questions

Does anyone know best method to build a small retaining wall that will lift one low corner in our yard so that it is more level with the rest??
We are thinking pressure treated landscape ties but want to ensure that what we use is environmentally friendly. Do they leach chemicals into the soil?

Have you thought of using Allan Blocks? As long as the wall isn;t to high they stack up and don't need to be fastened together.
