Petunias

Postby Lindamct » Apr 23, 2008 5:29 pm

Some time ago, someone mentioned a petunia that preformed better than the wave petunia in hanging baskets. Does anyone remember the name? I wasn't very pleased with my waves last year. :)

Not sure if this was the thread I'd asked about 'Supertunia's, they come in both large and mini. I'd heard they were great for baskets, and I think I'm gonna try them this year.

Here's the newest one. and the 2nd link show's all the varieties.

New...Shockwave Petunia's

https://www.veseys.com/ca/en/store/annu ... igiv05j0q0

The next Wave sensation! Tiny 1.5-2 inch flowers closely resemble Calibrachoa with the spreading habit of Wave petunias! Their compact habit is suited for smaller containers and window boxes. Where Waves may have gobbled up space in containers before, Shockwave petunias will kindly complement companion plants. The first petunias to flower, self-cleaning and prolific, Shockwave petunias are a pleasure to grow! Height 8-10 inches, spread 24-36 inches.

Wow! Those are pretty. I love the Calibrocha's. Last year I got some yellow ones and they were amazing! I'll be looking for those again this year.
I've started Ramblin' Trailing Petunias from seed, they certainly are slow growers! :?

Hi Lyn:
I grew Ramblin' white last year....it did OK, but wasn't spectacular. They seem much more restranied than the 'waves'.
Cheers

Thanks for the input Sharon, I will keep that in mind when I plant the baskets and make sure to overfill them.
