I have Jackmania the dark purple, Jackmania superba is a lighter purple, Nelly Moser is pink and white also Villa de Lyon is a carmine-red. These have been growing on my obleisk for about 5 years or more now. I cut them down early in the spring to about 6 inches high and give a handful of bone meal to each one. I also have daylilies growing around the outside edge of the stand and this protects the roots of the clematis. On the inside of this stand as it's about 3 feet across or more I put lots of compost down to keep the soil from drying out too much. And last but not least give them a good drink!
