You go to a nursery sale in a VW sedan, and manage to drive home with 4 Upright Yews (80cm high), 2 Unicorn Cedars, a serviceberry tree, 2 honeysuckle creepers, and just manage to squeeze in one car seat with kid in it, lol! Let me just add it was very crowded and green! The nursery guy thought only the 2 cedars would fit, and I would have to make two trips, but no, with some planning got all 6 trees in, lol

countrychic: I can relate to that. Every year my 2 daughters and I go in an SUV and every inch is filled. We have to go and unload and make a second trip and I usually end up with someone's hanging basket on my lap! And this is after I think I have everything I need from shopping the week before. It is a lot of fun though, looking for bargains and different plants.

It's kind of bittersweet...we look so forward to spring and then dread the muscle pain afterwords...or maybe I'm just getting old....lol.

The muscle pain always surprises me! I don't think of that when I buy and expect to feel like I did 20 years ago. Best to do a bit at a time and the planting space is a lot smaller than it used to be too.

hahahah Very nice. Hubby is always amazed at how much I can manage to get in stuff. Weather it's my purse, suitcase or the trunk. It's amazing what you can do with some tricky packing hhehe. I'd much rather cram it in, then make another trip. Can't wait to see the picks of it planted.

And now after reading this thread I'm like no wonder my back is so sore!!!! I edged the front garden and reshaped it and dug up the sod. Arrrggg, I was fine yesterday, and totally forgot about it, but I was just laying flat on my back on the floor, bending my knees stretching....it feels better now, perhaps a hot shower....

The one thing we never ever think of when we are dreaming about getting into our gardens at long last, is the backbreaking work, the sore muscles...it's amazing, year after year we forget this!
