Random Link Issue
In the interest of the members of the Over the Garden Fence forum, we would appreciate your opinions on the matter of the posting of links.
It is still our right (and goal) to keep unwanted or unnecessary material offline, while pretty much anything else (within reason) is still a go.

I find links without any description annoying & do not bother with them. However, if the poster were to provide some preamble as to where the link was going to take me I might look at it if it interested me.
As an example, a descriptor that I may follow into the link:
"Here is a link to an article about how trees clean the air."
Without such a descriptor I would automatically dismiss the link.

Personally speaking - as in; I speak for myself;
If there is no opinion or no indication of what the link is about and how it may pertain/interest me, I will jump it. I come here for conversation with friends. Random links push conversational posts off the edge and frankly, I'm not a morning person. I vote a resounding NO.
[apparently I'm not much of an afternoon person, either. laf!]

Both Ron and Inge have good valid points.
I also will skip a link if there is no explanation of where that link will take me, or if it has nothing to do with the thread.

My view is that if I need to find specific information on something, I am a good enough "googler" that I can find it myself, so I don't typically need other people to point me to it through their link. I assume that if someone is using this discussion board, then they also are adept enough at search engines to find those links themselves.
For me, the point of a "discussion" board is to discuss. It's not called a "find me the best link" board. Just my 2 cents.

The question is worded a bit ambiguously, so I am not sure how to vote here. Basically I find links and long copies of written material copied off the net boring and not real conversation. I am interested in the people that come here, thier opinions, what they have to say, thier photos, etc.
I am pretty sure this DOESNT pertain to citing a web site, i.e providing a link that is germaine to the conversation...
If I want to surf the net, I will. So I voted no, and I hope no means no, lol!
