Mare, Pewter is metal, it is an alloy of mostly tin & copper.

I'm very fond of pewter too. I think these candlesticks are all I have! We do have a lot of silver, (won by our dogs in Dog Shows), but that is such a painintheastilbe to clean. Pewter, on the other hand, just needs wiping with a damp cloth!

I slump corrected, Ron. Knew pewter was an alloy of tin and something else metallic, tho' not copper. Foiled again. laffs
BBQ, I have a pewter tea set in storage and it's a joy not having to worry that the pieces are building up dreaded tarnish. The design and craftsmanship are simply perfect. Wickered handles.
Mare NOT putting that lot in so-far-not-realized non-garage sale;o}
