Re: other forums you belong to?
That's right BW. I know what my kids are doing and all my nieces and nephews. Like I said, I also found cousins so now I know what's new with them, I talk to my brother and sister in Winterpeg. I've seen lots of "lost" photos of long deceased relatives and I know of at least 3 that are working on a family tree so I've found out how they are related to me.
As for the applications, that's the junk that can waste a lot of your time! I play with a few and every once in awhile I go in a weed them out. Right now there are a bunch of Christmas applications going on and once Christmas is over I'll toss those.

Here is my current selections, I participate for various reasons, but mostly to pick-up new ideas about plants, and often activities, and opinions of people from around the world. I have belonged to many forums over the years, and leave when there is little to satisfy my eclectic interests.

I too have facebook and like Lyn and BW, use it to see what my nieces, a couple of cousins, and my daughter are up to.
I don't consider it forum like at all.
Since I am on dail-up I don't use the applications except for the photo one.

I don't belong to any other forums.
I do have a peek now and again into gardenbuddies but there doesn't seem to be a place where you can talk, or gripe, about everything under the sun!
I do read quite a few newspapers on line:
My main online news comes from the bbc. It is far less insular than CNN, and gives a much broader view of what is going on in the world, not just the US. From the main page you can go anywhere - to Africa, the Americas, South Asia, etc., and if you're interested in the UK, as I am, then you can go from the main page to any region in England. It also covers UK politics, business, health, science & the environment; technical and entertainment. Something for everyone.
I also read The Telegram, the newspaper from St. John's, NF. I lived there for 16 years and it is a fascinating place for politics! 'Danny' is yet another in a long line of 'interesting' politicians!
And, for some Canadian news, I do read the Star, although I do find it a bit 'left'.
I occasionally go into our local 'Intelligencer', but, like the printed paper, it is not really worth it. They seem to only have access to 'feeds' from other sources, and there's very little local news in it.

Re: other forums you belong to?
My guess is that the young 'uns thought they had found a forum where they could talk freely, and all of a sudden, it's a spy network by their parents and relatives. My best friend uses it to spy on her kids. She told them that they'd better not block her. (she's a real Jewish mama, and her grownup kids listen to her - strange that!)

I belong to three soapmaking forums, Craftster, a knitting one and a Buddhist one.....but some days would just like to talk to different kinds of topics, kwim?
if you care to recommend any, I'd be most grateful.
Hi TB. Have you tried Garden Web? It has many different forums such as camping, bird watching, nature photography, butterflies, hummingbirds, farm life and many many gardening forums.

I'm a soaper too. What kind of soaping do you do? M&P, CP? Do you sell your soaps at markets etc? I'm at a Christimas craft fair tomorrow and Saturday. I just love soaping. I do CP. Do you belong to the soap making forum? That's a really, nice friendly, helpful forum unlike some of the other soapmaking forums I belong to.
