5¢ charge for plastic grocery bags
Re: 5¢ charge for plastic grocery bags
Joan, you beat me to it. Does this mean all of the stores. The horrid, wretched mayor ...... ppl do not realize just how fortunate they are to have anyone other that our mayor.
I do recycles grocery bags by the way and have assorted fabric bags.

Sorry, only grocery stores. I was reading the Star's article which really didn't specify and the comments from others which are always of interest.
Next charge will be the big box stores and similar.

Soon, we'll be needing a bag to carry our reusable bags if this spreads to other stores. LCBO is already one of them
Basically I have to agree with the idea. Way too many plastic bags flying around (literally).

When we walk into Price Chopper or No Frills we carry a bag of plastic bags in with us. We also have several cloth bags but I find it easier to pack the plastic ones as the cloth ones will not stay open & fold up as you try to put stuff in.
Ron.

We have a new law coming in the Spring
cloth bags only
No plastic at all. They say it takes 100 years for them to break down

I'm for anything that results in less plastic going into landfills. It's just a matter of getting used to taking a few bags with you when you go shopping. In no time at all you'll grow accustomed to it. I started doing this a year ago when I'd moved to my current city and started shopping at Price Choppers.

I have been using the re-usable ones from Sobeys and really like them. They even replace them when they get worn or tear for free.
Now they should do something about those foam trays that the meat comes packaged with.

Yes, lots of foam trays used along with the pad underneath (to catch and hold blood?) I wonder what the alternative could be as people want to see what they're buying. What about plastic bags of different sizes that could be heat sealed?
