Discovery channel
I just watched and they barely mentioned the astroid that fell out west
They estimated as it being 5 million maga tons of energy
They said nothing of where it landed
Did any one hear where it did and what size crator??
It could have burned up after entry before it landed but I didn't hear if it did or not
The show was basically on the one that fell in Siberia 100 years ago

Re: Discovery channel
I watched the Discovery show . . . Planet Discovery maybe . . and it was showing the estimated debris site to be in Saskatchewan . . . on the Altberta border.
Whatever debris that may have landed from this object could be worth a lot of money so it may be that somebody is being deliberately vague abt the potential crash(?) site.
Anybody here from Loydminister??? Time to haul out yr metal detector!

Thanks Frank
I didn't see that part
It must have been in the very beginning of the first few seconds of the show

The landing site has just been confirmed by CBC news. Abt 40 km from Loydminister near the Battle River. Here's the latest on the story so far .........................

Re: Discovery channel
To find possible larger pieces they will have to search further down the trajectory of the meteorite. Speed of the meteor decreases as it travels through the ever denser atmosphere as it falls. In the process of falling, the meteor will have showers of small rocks torn off & by the time it has neared the last of it's flight only the hard dense core will be left & that is where they may find larger pieces & they may have to dig for them.Course they are not going to mention this or treasure hunters may get to the site first.

Yeah...I saw that too & still think larger pieces will be found further south of where they were. Heck....they didn't even break through the ice on the pond ???? Maybe they came down via parachute for a soft landing LOL
