My dil should deliver her first baby before Christmas. Any suggestions for a stocking stuffer. Trying to get away from dollar stores if possible.

I've not had a lot of experience with newborns for quite a long time!
Just a suggestion: What about a lovely basket filled with all sorts of goodies, i.e. talcum powder, diapers, cleaning swabs, creams, rain-checks for baby-sitting, and loads of other things I am not familiar with!
Also, a gift certificate for 'Mom' to get her hair done, or a pedicure/manicure.
Hope this gets the ball rolling!

Oh fun babies first stocking..You know as a mom I always found it was very nice to get the extra nessacities of shampoo,body wash,lotion,socks,diaper rash cream,q-tips,baby powder and oil,stuff like that then throw in something that baby can put in his mouth when he starts to teeth like orjel teething rings,chewy rattle..ect..

What about his first sippy cup....& maybe a silver spoon.Go to a shoppers drug store &

slowly walk the baby isle.Make sure any plastics are a 1..2..or..5.So are safe for baby.

Soothers, socks or booties, mittens, bibs..... Make sure to buy only quality soothers such as NUK or Playtex.

Since the baby won't be the one opening said stocking, I always figure it's more of a nostalgic trip for the mother, I find that a personalized momento works....like a Christmas tree decoration, inscribed with baby's name and/or picture. Or a small music box, or a photo framed with grandparents' pics, as well as all the typical: a good rattle, a baby spoon, wee cute socks or booties, some soft washcloths etc..

Ohhh I like the idea of the baby's first xmas ornaments. Actually I know a few years ago Avon had a ton of baby's first xmas stuff. Haven't seen a catalog in ages, but you can look online.

If you want to give some practical stuff, the Lil Goats line or burts bee's are really nice. They have diaper creams and lotions and stuff. It's nice to get stuff you might not buy yourself, that's a lil special.

I got a gift for one little boy , a puter jet plane. His 1st birthday with the year and his initials

His dad is a caption of Cafe Pacific airlines

That wasn't easy to get. Seagull Puters makes helicopters but not airplanes

I had to order it from SEagull to have it especially made. Seagull Puter is not far from me and ship world wide so I thought it to be strange not to make an airplane but they didn't

Ornaments for 1st Chritmas and the plane and the like is a nice keepsakes

But I am sure mom could use more than one soother too, lol,lol

You might wish to pick up a copy of a National newspaper (baby's birth date). Might be fun when baby is older to be able to review what happened on this special day.
