Gooseberries...the loveliest jelly!

Garage roof Hens and Chicks...planted with a bit of "tilth" on the wood shake roof and left to survive or not, last summer. It is now Feb 1st and they are still doing fine. I expect it will take me a hundred years to have the roof covered with them.

I have never eaten gooseberries but they look delicious Liz! The roof looks wonderful.

Eeyore, I hope you do try gooseberries one day soon...so sweet, such a mild flavour...unique/pleasant.

Ah yes, that roof. As you can see, it is growing a good crop of moss (lichen?) and right now the jays and starlings are very busy digging away at the clumps of moss in search of wee edibles. This is best achieved by flipping those clumps of moss down onto the walkway beneath. What a mess!

Joan...due to all of the moss up there, from my window I cannot tell just how much is Hen and Chicks...very slow growing, and I suspect I might have been right about the hundred years!
