Re: WILLIAM!
Although I do appreciate the frustration over the last week or so, please be aware that if things could have been fixed sooner, they would have been. We do our best to respond to issues as quickly as possible, however, priority levels dictate our actions, and this week so far the tasks/priorities have been all over the map.
Now, we were able to narrow down the issue last night and made some changes which required everyone to re-login again this morning or late last night when you arrived. Since making some changes, things appear to be back to normal.
For how long? Well, that's a good question that I'm not completely sure about because the final server changes (for the better) have yet to take place which could cause some chaos for a bit while all the systems are tested and issues worked out. I will be leaving strict instructions to the team to do again what we did last night to solve the issue, when the server change happens.
Please be aware that in the future we will be taking the forums offline when a significant problem is detected until we can resolve the issue. This should decrease the amount of frustration on both sides as well as provide you with a clear indication that someone is actually looking into the issue. We only anticipate going to this extreme rarely once the server changes have been made, however it may be necessary during the actual server change sometime within the next week or so.
Server changes.... sounds bad, has caused some issues so far, and yet this is a very very good thing. The current server setup is old, slow, overloaded, and have been causing issues for the last while. The challenge now is keeping the old system functioning while the brand-spanking-new environment is setup and tested. A couple other sites were the guinea pigs the other night for the big move to the new system and things seemed to go quite well. So, there may be a temporary hic-up in the forums when it comes time to move CanadianGardening.com, however, with this move we expect to see the end of nearly all the madness we've gone through in the last year. The site will be moved in the wee-hours of the morning, and with what we discovered last night there shouldn't be any issues.
Now you know what I know, and a browser cookie tossing may be required if you are still experiencing issues.
Cheers,
