clematis, Mr. President I believe.

This clematis used to grow behind a solid fence in all day shade, and was pale and dusty pink.

Fence removed, the clematis went a lovely blue...a light blue.

Now, moved again, into almost all day sunshine, very different soil...and look at me now!

Looks familiar, we have two blues with only subtle differences. One is pictured in my post One of our Clematis.
Ron.

The wood is clear between the knots.

Could be! My Mr. President is a very much deeper purple, but that could be due to the growing conditions. Pretty Clematis though. I'll have a look to see if I have a pic of mine.

Here is my 'The President'. Pic taken on 5 June this year.
Photobucket not working just now so I will see if CG will allow me to post directly from my desktop, probably not! Sorry, it won't allow saying the file is too big. Will try to post the pic another time when Photobucket is back up.

Uploaded the pic into Flickr. First time trying to post from this site. Keeping fingers crossed.

Well, it worked, but the pic is very small! Good representation of the colour of mine though.

I attended a seminar given by a lady who had worked at a Clematis nursery here in Quebec. She said colour is far down on the list to id a Clem. She almost always starts with the stamens with don't change colour. The petals will vary depending on soil, sun and age. She said a lot Jacmanii's for sale are falsley identified. The only way to confirm is stamen colour. It was very eye-opening. I really enjoy my climbers but did not realize how much I did not know. OOmpf.
