Indoor container...
This large container is always put out on the deck to soak up the summer sun. It truly enjoys it as you can tell by the blooms.

Wow, how do you do that? My grandson loves cactus but his either dry up or rot. Too much of something and not enough of the other. I'd like to see him succeed with something other than blueberries because he seems to have a keen interest in plants . He's only 12 but very interested in trying. Edie

I keep my giant cactus in a sunny window for the winter months . As soon as all danger of frost are passed I carry the heavy container outdoors and leave it in a sunny spot.

I forgot to take my cactus out this year! Your's are very happy!!!
Maybe I forgot it because....well ....I forget about it! It sits on the back of the toilet in the "powder room" and gets watered......maybe twice a year!!LOL Haven't killed it yet! (knock on wood!)

Lyn, that's a darn good question. Most likely in the same soil that it came in. I do know that they transferred several into a single container, probably supplemented with regular potting soil.Kelly's comment about watering hers only twice a year has me wondering if perhaps he's overwatering. I'll compile a check list of suggestions and go over it with him. He is eager to learn. Edie

He might want to change to a well draining cactus soil as well.
