Re: User Control Panel
you may have to delete them slowly....sometimes you can get an ad that does not get in the way of the "go" button and be able to do it. I know...I just did it! LOL
Will pass it on though!

Re: User Control Panel
I haven't had a problem of ads blocking the "Go" button, except for a tiny corner of it.
There is a way around a blocked "Go" button though.
If you open the individual message, you will see at the top, a small X beside a report button . Click the X and it will ask if you want to delete the message..
I tried all 3 of my browsers.. IE, FF, and Chrome . None had the "go" button totally obscured..
If you have a number of pm's you want to delete, the one at a time is a pain, but doable if you can't uncover the "go" button.

Ads? I see zero ads.
I run noscript, block java/flash and run ghostery though, maybe that's why.
So I have zero issue, or even see the issue, that you talk of.

LOL Marc, you have it locked down way too tight. Do I detect a little paranoia?

Re: User Control Panel
Nah. I just don't allow everything and anything.
Even pulling up a news page, say like the Tor Star or Vancouver Sun is a pain in the butt. With everything blocked it's instant and no crap.
If I require to see something, or the web dev made the site to only work if everything is open, then it's only a click away... Or i just ignore it and find a better site that isn't intrusive.
Canadian Gardening, for example:
The web dev who put this up was decent. Made in a way that it doesn't force what some people may find intrusive down their throats.
Other sites will force it.
The Dev here, however, has it done in a way that will let you chose. This is way more respectful and not a type of forced Opt-in.
If they changed this, I wouldn't even bother with it and find a different site.
It's about choice.
That's analogous to those people who say, who needs privacy unless you got something to hide and are a terrorist.
Also, since the choices are there, it's up to people to learn how to use those choices. Again, as an example, since the choice is given, there shouldn't even be a topic here on this.
Each to their own...

Re: User Control Panel
ok I just fired up internet explorer for the first time in... has to be a couple of years.
This is very different than what I see with all the garbage blocked. I can understand now and see where Smitty is coming from.
So many crap ads and they even flash. Must be hell for an epileptic.
Seriously way too much.
Wow, even the smiley's off on the side don't all show for some reason. Weird.
One see's things very differently with the standard browser and config.
So after looking at all my messages about how I need to conform to the demogrphics of the forum. I was able to do w/o issue what Smitty said she can't do. No ads at all were in the way. Just don't see it and this browser is blocking absolutely nothing.
I'll go try a different computer with different screen resolution and different size everything. Maybe it's something off with the site... Everything is just right here.

Re: User Control Panel
Well I tried firefox & internet explorer. 24 inch monitor. 16 inch monitor, 19 inch monitor and all at different resolutions.
Didn't try the ipod.
I don't see or get what Smitty stated in regards to the ads being in the way of anything.
Could maybe be a setup on her end. Maybe. no clue. I can't replicate it... so far.
