To put patiostones around the house, is tarp needed?

I've just back from Lowes with the fabric (picture attached). I listen to your advises by using landscape fabric instead of tarp. If I make the walkway a slope away from the walls, most of the rainwater will be flowed away through the surfaces of the patio stones. Rest of the water (20% to 30% I guess) will be drained into the ground and won't hurt the foundation of the house. If waterproofed tarp is being used, water will stay in the layer of peastone gravel, and finally hurt the foundation.

The distance from the house to the fence is about 4'. I will put two roles of 18"x18" patio stones, that's 3'. One feet left for planting.

The fabric is 6'x50', folded (3' wide shows). I need to cut it half, right? I don't need to use folded two layers, right?

Yes, you can cut it in half, you do not need nor want 2 layers.

I am in agreement with Dave. Just one layer of landscape fabric will be sufficient.

Wow! It's looking really good. Just a couple of questions about that downspout. How close to the house does it drain and where will it drain to? It looks like there is clear area on the other side of the fence. I would make sure to provide a trough for rain water to drain out there .

Thank you much for asking! It reminds me to check out the downspout and trough. The trough's position looks like not high enough. I'll adjust it to make sure rain water to drain out there. There is a slope on the other side of the fence to the public sidewalk. This is a corner house.

The fabric and gravel are set. The next step is to put sand on it.

Bury that box of rocks underground and the Engineers call it a Soakaway Pit.

But! . . speakin' of underground . . if you're walking thru that area, u may want to extend yr downspout and run it out underground. In a pipe, under the pea gravel and the fence . . . and any pathway.
