What is this?

Postby Black Dahlia » Jun 27, 2012 7:29 pm

There are two of these growing beside the stairs to my apartment. I like them, the flowers are pretty. I'd like to know what they are so that I can figure out how to transplant them into my garden. They grow straight up and don't seem like they would be invasive. Can anyone identify them for me? They're a little more blueish purple than the pictures show.

The pictures are quite small but I believe what you have is Creeping Bellfower and you DO NOT want to put this in your garden. It is classified as a noxious weed here in Edmonton.

You can see some pic's of it here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campanula_rapunculoides
and it sure does look like it

They say not to pull it up, but rather dig it up with a shovel trying not to break it's roots or it will just grow back.
The internet is a very, very, serious entity created solely for commercial gains.

Thanks. I'm going to leave it where it is. It's fine there. Even if it does take over it doesn't much matter where it is right now. The flowers make for pretty pictures. (I'm also a Photographer)
