Identify this flower for me please
Hi
I have this plant growing like crazy in the shaded areas of my property...and I cannot identify it despite much research.
I found this pic on the internet, but it was to identify the pink flower in the background
I live in St. John's, Newfoundland (Zone 5)
Any ideas?
Thanks!

The pink flower is masterwort aka astrantia.
Just read the small text in your photo, yes Scrap got it right, columbine. It does self seed like crazy but not as bad as some in my books. The problem I have with mine is the columbine sawflies wreck the foliage and makes it look awful.

I'm always amazed at people's perception of pink, lilac, purple, mauve, violet, etc.
When the question was asked it referred to the 'pink' flower.
To me the flower in the background, (columbine), is either lilac or mauve, but not pink! lol
The flower in the foreground, to me, is pink!

I asked what the PURPLE flower was
And the columbine is in the foreground.....the masterwort is in the background.

Sorry about the confusion. To me the mauve/lilac columbine, (the bell-shaped flower), looks as though it is in the background and the pink masterwort in the foreground. Different perception.
