I haven't won the war...
..but did win the battle this year to get 8 huge, pink/white fragrant Stargazers, my first in 15 years. They're worth the annoyance of the Battle of the Lily Beetles!

Breathtakingly beautiful. They're the reason I would like to grow lilies again. The little red buggers ate mine!

Stargazers were one of the first things I got in the spring after the total overhaul of my yard. Their fragrance and beauty makes me smile every time I go out there. These are enormous, some with a pink blush. The beetles ate a lot of the leaves and slightly mutilated some of the flower buds, but overall it's not too bad.

I got those bulbs in one of those little bags at Home Depot. They looked so dried up I couldn't believe they would grow.
I find it a real miracle that such huge, waxy, perfumed flowers could possibly come from those ugly little nuggets.
