Help ID this bush...
We recently bought a new house, and have this bush in the back yard. Just wondering what it is, and whether the berries are safe for consumption? (We have a dog that will eat anything.
Any help would be much appreciated!

That looks like the "Bearberry" or Kinnikannick.
Search "Bearberry, Uva-ursi, Kinnikinnick" for pix and description.
It grows right across Canada.. If it is , the berries are edible, but rather mealy

At first glance, I thought it was one of the Cotoneasters......but looking closer, I now think it is a cultivar of a low bush cranberry (Vaccinium sp)

Thank you Ian...
You are correct it is a Daphne! Now I know! I searched and searched online but could not find an answer!
I have one other mystery plant... It reminds me somewhat of a Japaneese Aralia, (similar leaves, but spiky and not glossy) It has produced 3-4" sized yellow rose like flowers, and last fall it had purplle-ish pea pods hanging all over it... It drops all new growth in the late fall, and is just woody stems over the winter...
Any ideas!?!?
We bought this house late last summer, and it has been really intersting this spring watching all these new colours emerging... There are about 20 or so Rhodos on the property that are blooming to show their colours, and we had some of the most beutiful pink Tulips I have ever seen pop up in some unexpected places!

Re: Help ID this bush...
A picture would be helpful, especially when it is blooming....
The only shrubs that come to mind (but don't resemble the aralia foliage) are
CARAGANA ARBORESCENS, Siberian Pea Shrub
Cytisus scoparius, Common Broom
Post a pic of the plant and I'll see if I can help further
