When is Buttercup Squash ready to pick?
I have Buttercup squash in my garden and want to know when to pick it. Also, should I prune it now to prevent the setting of any new squash?

Re: When is Buttercup Squash ready to pick?
Your buttercup squash, like all winter squash, are harvested when the exterior of it is hard, and when tapped, has a slight hollow sound to it. The buttercup usually needs about 90 -110 growing days (from sowing) to ripen when grown under normal conditions .
I usually trim this plant on a regular basis, as soon as the "fruit" starts to develop. You can remove between 3" and 12" at this time.

Thanks Dan, I've never grown a winter squash of any kind before.
I'll trim that baby ASAP!
