So exciting
First bloom on my "Tibouchina" was open this morning. These plants grow like trees in Tropical countries.

Gorgeous colour.
I'm always amazed at the size some of these small plants grow in their own environment. I was daily gobsmacked by the size of the Poinsettia growing in Cuba. They were tree-like and about 20 ft tall.

Yes it is amazing how big plants grow. Hubby and I took a tour to Ecuador a couple yrs. ago. here is a pic of a "Tibouchina " tree in the Botanical Gardens. Ecuador has amazing gardens. We visited the "Large Rose Plantation and the Largest Orchid Gardens/Grower in South America plus several other gardens.
A very worthwhile trip!!

Wow! Clara, I have never heard of a Tibouchina tree! I would have thought it was a Hibiscus tree by the looks of the flowers in your picture. Very interesting1
Gardening requires a lot of water - most of it in the form of perspiration.

Yes this tree was amazing. They also had Impatiens and Heliotrope the size of shrubs ( 4 ft tall) You have to remember that in a tropical country these plants grow 12 months of the year.

Yes, like the Ficus Benj. in Mexio! I'm in the S. interior of BC Canada. Where are you?

I'm in South/Western Ontario. My Tibouchina is a house plant. It will never be a tree like the one in the pic.
