Look what we built this weekend!
Turned a sloping hill on the edge of the garden into a walkway. Grass was impossible to mow here without falling off the mower sideways, lol. So I ripped the grass out, and levelled the ground in tiered steps towards the fence. Hubby and I built the Pergola over 2 weekends. Laid down a walkway with planks we had lying around and mulched in between the gaps. Planted two pear trees along the fence (for the kids) and a couple of Dutchmens Pipe to grow up and over pergola. There are grapes growing on the fence, I might train them up too.
What do you think?

Wow! Nice job!
I love the view along the walkway through the pergola. The kids will love it.
Dutchman's Pipe? I personally am not enamoured with it, but this is quite a big area so they should look OK. If you could train the grape vine to intermingle that would be great.
Well done.

I haven't seen a Dutchmens Pipe in bloom in real life. But these are its flowers from google. Could be very cool!

Very nice look. Well done.
Personally, I would get rid of all the weeds and funny ugly bushes and grow grapes all along & up that thing.

You say tomato, I say ugly bush.
I think your husband would agree with you buying a wine press and pulling all that ugliness out. :p

Kindly circle where these ugly bushes are so I can at least defend myself and my poor plants. I see nothing.

I removed the ugly parts and filled them in with grapes for you.
