Our first port of call was to the Reunion of my husband's graduating class. This was held in Staffordshire, "The Moat House", parts of which date back to the 14th century. It was a beautiful place, beautifully restored, and absolutely first class.
This is part of the front of the hotel, housing the bar and restaurant:

This was the rear of the building - imagine this wisteria in full bloom:

This is the view from our hotel room overlooking the canal, complete with a moored barge:

After the3-day Reunion was over, (thank goodness - we can no longer burn the candle at both ends!), we drove to one of our favourite villages and into a rented cottage in Aston Cantlow, Warwickshire, which was one of our old stomping grounds before we moved to Canada. The cottage is small and quirky but delightful:

The local pub, 'The Kings Head' is only 50 yards away. We went there for supper tonight. This pub has won an award for the best gastropub in Warwickshire for the past 2 years.

We're next door to a very old church, which apparently is the church where Shakespeare's mother and father were married.

There are more pics if anyone is interested.

Lovely pictures, Brenda. I can't believe how green everything is, and we're into October! Keep 'em coming...they are much welcomed.

So beautiful and quaint. Reminds me of my travels down to Brighton and the S/E of England in April. Just loved it! Enjoy your holiday Brenda!

Very lovely pictures Brenda. It brings back memories when Hubby and I were on a tour to England in 2006. The Wisteria were in full bloom as were many flowers. We toured many lovely gardens. So beautiful !! We have friends in England that are in the process of moving to Canada. How many yrs. does it take to get the visas and whatever papers you need. They have a daughter and family living in Ontario and want to be closer to the Grandchildren.

This is a very nice collection of photographs, very interesting.. it looks like your weather is cooperating too. These buildings are obviously very well looked after. I hope you are enjoying your holiday back home Brenda.

And yes, pease do post more. It may take a while to respond and post on threads for me, I have to go and find the laptop that I have that will allow me to post. But I LOVE to see your travel photos.
