Re: sunrise
Had to do a quick search myself.
It appears both are correct!
This is one of the links I found:
http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/red- ... night.html
The other:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_sky_at_morning
A similar adage appears in a poem by William Shakespeare. He said something similar in his Venus and Adonis (1593): [5][6]
“Like a red morn that ever yet betokened,
Wreck to the seaman, tempest to the field,
Sorrow to the shepherds, woe unto the birds,
Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds.”[b][i]
The perils are foreshadowed using the archaic word "betokened"; some versions use the archaic term "Wrack" (for the word "Wreck").
So now we know! lol

Re: sunrise
Thanks Ron!
BBQ and Dave I got a real charge out of both your entries on this thread! I wanted you to know it had me smiling most of the morning.
I always knew there was a real reason to watch out for these kinds of weather signs, inevitably I would get my butt kicked. I used to do a fair amount of helicopter flying and a morning with one of these sunrises that coincided with a pick up / drop off / walk out what ever, used to make my heart sink. Now I am mostly retired (ha ha) I can just photograph them. MUCH EASIER.
Thanks for brightening up my day!
