Are you lookin' at ME?
Bobby DeNiro, my favorite Stellars Jay mooch, on my deck this morning. Ready for peanuts. This bird is ENORMOUS. He was a chick here last fall, and hes baaaaaack. I swear he is the size of a crow. He is super tame but quite a tough guy.

He looks a bit like Don King to me - the wild hairdo! He is a handsome fella though. You must have a good long lens to get the close-up.

Re: Are you lookin' at ME?
Thanks everyone! Bobby is extremely tame. I think if I put some work into it I could get him to feed from my hand. I am pretty sure some other putz is feeding him up close, along the river bank here, somewhere. I dont subscribe to taming wild birds, it usually ends badly for them, but I happened to be out on my deck photographing beads of water on the English ivy berries (Im desparate, ok?) when he plopped down on the railing about 5 feet away. He definetely has a penetrating stare. And he is on a mission. Peanuts or bust! And possibly Peanuts THEN bust, cause he definetely is a total hoser. He is HUGE. I put out peanuts every day for those guys, and sometimes its like a scene from Hitchcocks 'The Birds' out there.
Thanks for all the kind comments. And yes he looks like Don King, too funny!

WHOOHOO! - the Cedar Waxwings are here! My dog and cat are currently perched at the living room window watching the flock circling in preparation to land on my mountain ash trees. Let the feasting begin!
Man do they move fast! I can never get a good photo with the speed they move in and back to the berries.
It won't be long before the trees are bare again. Too bad for the pair of Flickers and the one lonely Robin who seems to be here a little later than he should. The buffet will be empty. I do hope the Robin has gotten the message to head south by now...
