In total agreement with the above comment.

Fernleaf, I'm mushy...I love the dear hearts and gentle people.
I hate falling into hornet's nests...which I HAVE experienced, on a street in downtown Toronto, and I tore my pants off to get rid of them...probably IT, and not a THEM, but it sure felt like it!

Also, it's identical to other turf damage I've had much earlier in the year when they look for grub larvae.
Again, I'm astonished to see this in December though.
We had the same problem a few years ago. We had skunks digging for grubs in our backyard. They made an awful mess of the lawn.We had to re-seed the the lawn the following spring. Lucky we did catch the skunks with a cage.
You can get a spray at the Garden centre for grubs, we were told to spray the whole lawn in June which we did. We have never had a problem since.
Good luck to you.

Clara, when you say:
Was this before the pesticide ban or since?
If since, did you spray nematodes?
Thanks
