Christmas display at library today
Is in a small entranceway....an old fashioned wood and glass display case.
Hanging overhead are several 1 foot large hoops, with plain paper backings, and bright circles of coloured paper shapes, circles, stars, etc.
a table, with old Christmas books displayed...plus two very interesting take-offs on paper chairns.
One is parchment coloured...intricate zigzags, tightly formed balls. 5 or more feet long. Hours of labour, hand cut.
Other is about same length....zillions of coloured paper circles threaded tightly onto sring (I guess) very colourful. Colours are muted now..maybe back then?
methinks dates from 1900 ahen PR began, and folks made own amusements, decorations. someone cared enough to keep this.
Really simple, a lot of hard work, and I bet the kids then thought Pure Magic!

I love seeing hand made decorations .... especially made by children.Used to have such fun making things with the kids.
