Babble, babble, babble

Pull up a chair and grab a cup of Java for a cozy chat about what's on your mind and what's happening in your neck of the woods. This is a strictly for fun non-gardening topics.

Speaking of Christmas cookies and treats, my dearest hubby teaches grade 3, and this has been a bonanza week for treats, chocolates and homemade cookies. He gets the sweetest packages with wobbly written cards expressing their love slid onto his desk.

With 20 students, it amounts to enough for an army, of course. He is beloved, a hero, and the only male teaching primary, so is often the centre of attention!

We are taking all the chocolates down to the Coast, and will contribute them to the Wedding potluck - I am sure someone will help us get rid, so I don't have the temptation hanging around the house, taunting me! Yes, the wedding is potluck, the total number of guests attending is not known, no written invitations were sent, it's as crazy as the bride is - and she is quite unusual on any given day. I await to be surprised, although nothing ever surprises me about this woman any more.

So the highway has reopened, and off we go! I'm packed, he's not yet, we are taking all the wedding clothes, a big suitcase of stuff for me, since I don't know when I am coming back, wet coast gear, winter gear (-20 tomorrow here), our personal pillows, and so on. The car will be full! Son flies down on the 24th with just his casual stuff for 4 days.

It's all so nutty!

Bon voyage!

I'm so glad the roads are clear...and to tell the truth, I am feeling just a wee bit envious of you.

I hope the bride is fun...and DOES surprise you, in the nicest way of course!

My kids adored their male teachers too...in those early grades.

I never thought about all the "loot" a teacher must get...it's got to be a bit over-whelming!

bye bye! and Merry Christmas!

Very smart shipping the treats out of the house.I packaged all the ones I made up for gifts. All that is left are the edge trimmings so I put them on a plate and hubby has them almost gone already.

Since it is such a nice night hubby,Sarah and I went on a walk to look at christmas lights. We were surprised there are none at our local park,it is usually lit quite nicely.Anyway we had great fun.We were discussing different houses and saying how we would decorate them. Some houses were done so nice and I liked a couple who did the garages too.

Now we are listening to a christmas special ... why oh why can't singers just sing the song normally, they have to re-arrange a perfectly nice song into something you can hardly recognize. ( sorry just a small rant ) I would love to hear Run Run Rudolph by Chuck Berry and I could get up and dance around the house ... Sarah always has a little dance with me.Hubby just rolls his eyes ... lol.

Our snow is melting quite fast, water everywhere, and wouldn't you know it my boots sprung a leak.We may have a bit of the white stuff left for christmas day if we don't get any more rain.Anyway we are ready.Presents will be picked up by my son on christmas eve.We will be going to visit the in-laws after they get home from their dinner at the casino. The rest of Brian's gang don't care if they see us so we will just have my family get-together when everyone has a free day.

Then all the hubbub will be over for another year.

The hubbub just got here.

There I was, Home Alone, dogs and husb having stolen my car (or been kidnapped, more likely) and I was watcing telly...Home Alone 3.

From the kitchen there came a LOUD CRASH, and a speeding Orange bullet flung itself into my bedroom, my bed, my arms.

Being foolhardy, I immediately got out of bed and went to the Scene of the Crime.

Did you know that those big Norfolk Pine trees they sell as Christmas trees come planted in peaty soil? So that they are lightweight enough to be carried by foolish little old ladies? And when these trees hit the floor, the peaty soil scatters ALL Over....everything.

So everything picked up, back in place, HUGE pitcher of water (I am not the smartest cookie in the box) I fill the pot...and then my smarts kick in...I race back, grab presents, move them as fast as I can...race to bathroom to get bathtowel, Frightening Poor Little Hamish, and shove presents onto another table...soak up all the water...leave the table bare with bathtowel.

Somehow, it doesn't look as festive as it did. But, no broken ornaments (esp. not the glass candy cane lights) and I cuddled Hamish and gently suggested he leave the tree alone except for sniffing. He was purring again and curling his toes very soon.

You DO realize I bought the danged thing so that Hamish would have a REAL Christmas tree, don't you?

I have several artificial ones, but every cat should have a REAL tree at least once!

Daughter Two has a dog visiting, a young German Shepherd, who is eating the Christmas tree ornaments as we speak.

I hope EVERYONE is enjoying Christmas as much as I am!

Oh .... if the tree is his then he can do what he wants with it.And I think everyone should have a real tree.I can understand cats wanting/needing to climb a tree, especially one brought into their house ... what a treat !!

Pretty cool here today, there was a good wind blowing so the wind chill was high.We stayed in the house most of the day, just out for church this evening and back home.Kid came by to pick up gifts he had hidden here and now I am in my flannels and waiting for "The Shop Around the Corner" to come on TCM.

Tomorrow all we are doing is going to visit the in-laws so a quiet day.If it is not too cold we may take a walk in the park down town and see the lights.

A pretty day here...palest winter sunshine...NOT raining.

Have local channel on tv...The Christmas Log...Lily is entranced, of course.

However, Mommy has cds that play such interesting "music" and hear is Lily with ears cocked as she listens beside me to the "Cats' Christmas Music"

(following that, came the Dogs' Christmas Music" and she is sitting beside me begging.

(after this comes people's music and while this has been fun, I can't say I'm sorry it will end!
