anyone ever try or have any success planting seeds from a store bought tomato?

I know i tried to plant some potato's last year and apparanty they must have been sprayed with chemicals to stop them from sprouting out.

Usually veggetables bought at the grocery are not good sources for seed.They are picked before ripe and the seeds are not mature.Also as you say chemicals,pesticide, and radiation methods are used and probably have an adverse affect as well.
