dahlia question

Postby Bug » Jun 02, 2013 2:07 pm

Hi there, I purchased 3 beautiful tall dahlia's in a planter. They are beginning to flop over, needing to be planted I think. I realize they have tubers below, so I am a bit unsure how to dig them out of the pot. Can someone with experience in this give me some guidance? Also, are they a full sun plant or otherwise?
Thanks so much!

Dig them out of the planter making sure you get the tuber intact....plant and stake it in full sun in the garden.....

Re: dahlia question, another one!!

Hi there,
So I have transplanted the dahlias into my garden. There were actually 4 plants in the pot so I kept one in the pot to enjoy on the deck. My question this time is when I dead head the flowers from a dahlia, do I snip the stem right back to where it grows out of the larger stem? If not, there are ugly flowerless sticks poking out of the plant which isn't very appealing. Same question applies to a gerber daisy, snip right back? Thanks so much for any and all responses!!

Yup....snip back to stem to avoid ugly stems sticking up
