Planting Virginia Creeper along garage wall?

Postby dulse » Jun 03, 2013 2:41 pm

Our kitchen windows look out onto the boring cement wall of our garage. We're hoping to cover it with Virgina Creeper. The previous owners planted one Virginia Creeper at the southern edge of the garage last year, but we were told that we should plant at least 2 to cover the wall sufficiently. The wall is about 14' long and 11' tall.

Can anyone suggest where we should plant the second plant? In the middle of the wall or at the northern edge?

Any ideas of how long it will take to spread and how we should maintain it? We live in Montreal.

Thank you!

I'm not an expert. However, I've had a Virginia creeper at the end of a 10 foot deck having planted it 10 feet away from the a 10-12 year period it has grown in all directions very aggressively. It has reached the house and keeps on much I've had to cut it back at the base more than once.
