Weeds Everywhere on My Lawn!!! :(

Postby Dharav » Jun 25, 2013 1:28 pm

I have a small backyard, which has these predominant plants which has grow in patches, all over the lawn. Here are some of the picture of these plants. I am not sure if they are the same plant or different, but it would be appreciated if someone knows what plants are they and what is the best way to get rid of them.
If it helps i live in the Greater Area of Toronto.
Here are the picture,

Pictures are clover, except for the yellow flowering one that is called Black Medick which if it goes to seed can become weedy.
Generally, clover can be a good plant in the lawn unless you don't like the patchy appearance.....
If you don't want it, just remove it by digging it up, top dress with soil and reseed with grass.

if you want a weed free yard its a full time job.

If anything i see weeds as alternate plants for bugs to eat over my veggies as long as they dont shade my veggies its all good.

but yeah i also have clovers.... unless you remove 100% of every piece of stem, they will regrow from roots and broken stems underground.

on my garden i removed the sod yet months later its covered in weeds again, its impossible to win jsut to keep in check.

My lawn is not a full-time job... but then it's not weed-free either. ;) lol

I keep working on it tho . . . building u the soil so the grasses can out-compete the weeds. A mulching mower is a big help, leaving clipping behind to compost down into good organics. All the leaves that fall in my yard are treated the same way, building up the soil year by year.

Eventually I'll get there, but in the meantime, grass or Clover, as long as it mows up green and even I'm happy with it.

Best of luck! :)

i suppose when i say its a full time job im thinking of this retired couple who live for their yard.

ive watched the wife spend the whole day in the front yard slowly mythotically taking out every weed in the yard alongwith their roots.

while the neighbors yard is completely full of dandilions just ready to spread all over their yard lol.
