Home Hardware Sale on Heated Seedling Mats

Postby Justanotherider » Feb 14, 2014 11:53 am

Home has 10" x 20" heated seedling mats in their eastern Ontario flyer for $15 this weekend. I don't work for them and have never tried the product, so can't endorse it. It's the cheapest price I've seen, so I'm gonna give one a shot.

Hope this type of posting doesn't violate forum protocols...

I'd say this is okay because you don't work for Home Hardware! I've never tried a heated mat. Let me know how it works for you! :D

Thanks Tara. I'll let you know for sure. I've got a few seeds that apparently germinate better at higher temperatures than I get in my little "greenhouse", (one of those shelving units with a plastic cover) so I thought I'd give the mat a try.

Sorry to have misled you with the "weekend" comment. My flyer says the prices are valid until February 22nd. I went into my local shop Friday and they were sold out; but ordered me a couple with no fuss.

I bought one heating mat in Brantford yesterday. It has no thermostat, but will probably do the job. Price about $14.00

I haven't done a whole lot of research on them; but I read in an advertisement that they raise soil tempebratures by about 10 degrees Fahrenheit. I'll stick a thermometer in a couple of flats when I plant mine and find out...
