Ok Sprout - home again and with time to do a little looking. Basic advice I found says if growing stems, leaves or buds, partial shade will do; but if after roots or fruits, full sun is best. As with most issues, there are exceptions.

The shade tolerant list provided looks like this:

Lettuce
Spinach
Parsley
Collards
Cress
Pak Choy
Mustard Greens
Swiss Chard
Kale
Bunching onions
Garlic
Endives
Radishes
Currents
Gooseberries

A list with some tolerance (providing smaller yields) includes:

Broccoli
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Kohlrabi
Brussels Sprouts
Peas
Beans
Beets
Rhubarb
Potatoes
Sweet Potatoes
Yams
Turnips
Carrots
Strawberries
Raspberries
Blackberries

Have fun, and let us know what you learn! :-)
Just when you learn how to garden really well, you're too old to do it anymore...
