Nova Scotia native Betty Minor has thoughtfully cultivated a verdant,
natural haven—and along with it, a sense of her own history.

Betty carries within her a deep respect for the landscape, the natural world, and the environment; she throws away little, and works to create a safe, nurturing, and beautiful space where wildlife will thrive, hopefully, for generations to come. As the late summer sun slants through the rich, jewel-like tones of penstemon, sunflowers, cosmos, nasturiums and echinacea, it’s evident that Betty has taken what her family taught her to heart. “It doesn’t matter if it’s big or small, formal or cottage,” she says. “As long as you take care of what you have to the best of your ability, it will be a thing of beauty and will stand the test of time."
