Behind the scenes: Creating carpet beds

A favourite theme
The plants Steve uses are tropical, so they only last for one growing season. That means he gets to design something new each year to celebrate an event in Canadian, Ontario or Toronto history. One of Steve’s favourite carpet beds is the Parks Canada logo he created last year to commemorate the organization’s 100th anniversary. Other themes he’s explored include the winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Toronto Tree Advocacy Program and Ontario’s native flower, the trillium.
